Job completed for Living Room Ceiling and Bathroom Water Damage Cleanup
Completion date: November 2, 2026
Location: Columbia, SC
Why did the customer contact us?
A Columbia, SC homeowner called Kingsley water damage & Fire cleanup after water damage turned up in several rooms of their two-story home. On the main level the living room ceiling and the bathroom walls were affected, and upstairs the carpet on the landing, in the master bedroom and in a closet had gotten wet, so they wanted each affected area opened up where needed, cleaned and treated the right way.
Solutions provided:
The photo shows the living room ceiling opened up inside containment: the exposed wood floor joists and the underside of the subfloor above, insulated flexible HVAC ducts and wiring running through the cavity, and the plastic containment wall with its red zipper door just below. Our technician set up about 62 square feet of containment barrier with two zipper doors in the living room and ran an extra-large air scrubber during the demo and cleaning. About 10 square feet of wet drywall came out, and the exposed joist system and wall studs were HEPA vacuumed, cleaned and treated with a plant-based antimicrobial.
In the bathroom beside the living room, the baseboard and wet drywall were removed inside a separate containment with its own zipper door, then the open stud walls were HEPA vacuumed, cleaned and treated. Upstairs, the team set up containment on the landing, in the master bedroom and in the closet, took out the wet carpet and pad in the affected spots, and HEPA vacuumed, cleaned and treated the floors. In the laundry room the baseboard came off and the floor was cleaned and treated as well.
Homeowner takeaway: when water reaches a ceiling, the joists and ductwork above it should be checked and cleaned too, not just the drywall you can see.
