Water Damage is Not Properly Remediated

How to Identify the Right Contractor

We are full-time water damage and mold remediation specialists. Carpet cleaners, plumbers, pest control companies, and many other industries are starting to offer water mitigation and mold remediation in their services. Do not think that they can offer the same quality as a company that specializes in these services and is constantly continuing to improve their work in the field. We stick to what we know, and that is restoring your home to its original condition in a quick, safe, and cost-efficient manner. Water damage and mold remediation do not have many government regulations, meaning anybody can claim to be a water damage or mold removal expert. One important thing to look out for is how they plan to mitigate the water damage and perform the restoration. Unfortunately, even some nationally recognized companies are still providing estimates aimed at simply painting over water damage – DO NOT allow them to perform this type of service, as it will not treat any underlying issues.

What to Expect When Paying For Water Damage

In the water mitigation industry, work begins under a standard authorization rather than a fixed upfront quote. This is because the scope of restoration depends on variables that only reveal themselves during the process—such as how specific materials respond to drying or the discovery of hidden damaged flooring.

Insurance carriers recognize this as the industry standard and expect billing to be finalized based on the actual work required to restore your home. To ensure a seamless claims process, we recommend contacting your insurance provider as soon as possible so they are documented and aware of the mitigation efforts underway.

The inspection at this Jenkinsville home covered the bathroom, the bedrooms, the attic and the crawlspace, with moisture meters and thermal imaging used to find saturation that was not visible, particularly under the subflooring and inside enclosed spaces. What shaped the whole plan was the subfloor material. AdvanTech is engineered to resist water, which is a genuine advantage right up until it becomes saturated. Once water gets in, it penetrates deeply and releases slowly, so a drying schedule built around ordinary plywood or OSB would have come up short.

The crawlspace presented a different problem. It was contaminated, which meant we could not simply set air movers running and push that air around, because anything blown out of the crawlspace would carry into the rooms above.

The solution was to build a controlled airflow pattern instead of a conventional one. We ran air movers at high speed with lay-flat ducting to draw stale, damp air out of the crawlspace, while pushing warm dry air back in at a lower volume. That imbalance holds the space under negative pressure, so air consistently moves into the crawlspace and out through the ducting rather than up into the house. It let us dry a space where direct equipment placement was limited, without spreading what was down there.

Air quality and moisture levels were monitored continuously while this ran, because a containment strategy that depends on a pressure differential only works as long as the differential holds. If equipment shifts or a duct kinks, the protection stops. Checking it repeatedly is part of the method, not an optional extra.

The rest of the house was dried conventionally, with the timeline paced to the AdvanTech rather than to the faster-drying rooms. That is the discipline this job required: the bedrooms and bathroom finished well before the subfloor did, and pulling equipment when the easy areas hit target would have left the slowest and most important material still wet underneath.

Once readings across the structure held at normal levels, including the subfloor, the equipment and containment came out. Water reaching this many areas of a Jenkinsville home at once tends to look like one problem, but it was really two running side by side, a slow-drying subfloor and a crawlspace that could not be ventilated normally, and each needed its own answer.
