Job completed for Laundry Room and Kitchen Water Damage Cleanup with Crawl Space Check

A Columbia, SC homeowner called Kingsley water damage & Fire cleanup after water got under the vinyl flooring in the laundry room and spread into the kitchen next to it. The floor and the bottom of the cabinet along the shared wall were wet, and they wanted the damage dried out properly and the crawl space under those rooms checked before anything was put back.

Our technician started in the laundry room, moving the washer and dryer out of the way and pulling up the affected vinyl flooring. About 12 feet of baseboard came off so the sill plates behind it could dry, and two air movers were set up in the room.

In the kitchen, the affected vinyl flooring was marked for removal, with an asbestos test on the vinyl first, as required before older flooring is disturbed. The side panel of the cabinet that meets the laundry room wall was removed to open up the wet cavity, and a dehumidifier and two more air movers were placed to dry the area. All affected surfaces were sprayed with an antimicrobial, then HEPA vacuumed, cleaned and wiped down.

The photo shows the crawl space below those rooms: a brick foundation wall and vent, with an old plastic vapor barrier that was torn, shifted and stained with dirt and standing moisture.
